Produced at Akkeshi Distillery in Hokkaido, Japan, Taisetsu “The Great Snowfall” is the 9th release in Akkeshi’s 24 Sekki series, inspired by Japan’s traditional micro-season calendar. This lightly peated single malt is produced using sourced and locally grown Hokkaido barley, double distilled in Forsyths copper pot stills, and matured in a combination of Hokkaido Mizunara oak, ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and ex-red wine barrels. Coastal, smoky and wintery in style, it shows marshmallow, campfire smoke, vanilla cream, sandalwood, kiwi, grilled grapes, citrus, brewed tea and bittersweet smoky fruit skin.
