Our Chianti Superiore is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. The grapes are hand-picked in small boxes then immediately transported to the cellar where they undergo a strict selection, both of the bunches and of the single grapes, on two conveyors. The Sangiovese and the Merlot varieties are vinified separately in the cellar. Both undergo a maceration of about 25-30 days in contact with the skins. The wines are then aged in oak for about 5 months, 2500-liters barrels for the Sangiovese and barriques for the Merlot. The final blend is made at the end of this ageing period using only the better barrels. The resulting wine has a lively, ruby color, intense perfumes, harmonious taste and soft and velvet tannins. Our Chianti Superiore is aged in bottle for about 3-4 months and, as is appropriate, is released only after the 1st of September of the year following the year of harvesting.
